On September 10, 2026, during the Conference on Animal and Environmental Law, held in the Honorable Legislature of Chubut, more than 20 renowned judges, prosecutors and national leaders signed the Chubut Declaration on the legal personality of non-human animals, a historical document that declares the need to legally recognize non-human animals as sentient beings and subjects of law and it requests the powers of the State at the national level to consider them in this way.

The Chubut Declaration was promoted by the NGO SINTIENTES together with the chief prosecutor Florencia Gómez, from the Specialized Fiscal Unit in Environment and Crimes against Animals (UFE-AyDA).
